Spinning Mills New Project main points|Textile Industry

This industry is the largest in the country in terms of employment generation of 35 million people. Cotton yarn manufacturing constitutes the backbone of the textile industry in India

The textile industry is the second-largest in India after the agriculture sector. It is giving around 10 crore jobs with direct & indirect involvement.
Spinning is the twisting technique where the fibre is drawn out, twisted, and wound onto a bobbin. It is around 150 billion industry. The industry is extremely varied, with hand-spun and hand-woven textiles sectors at one end of the spectrum, while the capital-intensive sophisticated mill sector at the other end. The decentralized power looms/ hosiery and knitting sector forms the largest component in the textiles sector. The close linkage of the textiles industry to agriculture (for raw materials such as cotton) and the ancient culture and traditions of the country in terms of textiles make it unique in comparison to other industries in the country. India’s textiles industry has the capacity to produce a wide variety of products suitable for different market segments, both within India and across the world. Market Size India’s textiles industry contributed 7% to the industry output (by value) in 2018-19. The Indian textiles and apparel industry contributed 2% to the GDP, 12% to export earnings, and held 5% of the global trade in textiles and apparel in 2018-19. India’s textiles and apparel exports in mercantile shipments were 11% in 2019-20. The textiles industry has around 4.5 crore employed workers including 35.22 lakh handloom workers across the country. Cotton production is expected to reach 36.0 million bales and consumption is expected to reach 114 million bales in FY21—13% growth over the previous year.   The domestic textiles and apparel market stood at an estimated US$ 100 billion in FY19. The production of raw cotton in India is estimated to have reached 35.4 million bales in FY20^. During FY19, production of fibre

in India stood at 1.44 million tonnes (MT) and reached 1.60 MT in FY20 (till January 2020), while for yarn, the production stood at 4,762 million kgs during the same period.

Exports of textiles (RMG of all textiles, cotton yarn/fabs./made-ups/handloom products, man-made yarn/fabs./made-ups, handicrafts excl. handmade carpets, carpets, and jute mfg. including floor coverings) stood at US$ 29.45 billion, as of March 2021.

The yarn issuing from the drafting rollers passes through a thread guide, round a traveller that is free to rotate around a ring, and then onto a tube or bobbin, which is carried onto a spindle, the axis of which passes through a centre of the ring. The spindle is driven (usually at an angular velocity that is either constant or changes only slowly), and the traveller is dragged around a ring by the loop of yarn passing around it.

If the drafting rollers were stationary, the angular velocity of the traveller would be the same as that of the spindle, and each revolution of the spindle would cause one turn of a twist to be inserted in the loop of yarn between the roller nip and the traveller.

In spinning, however, the yarn is continually issuing from the rollers of the drafting system and, under these circumstances, the angular velocity of the traveller is less than that of the spindle by an amount that is just sufficient to allow the yarn to be wound onto the bobbin at the same rate as that at which it issues from the drafting rollers.

Ring spinning is one of the most common spinning methods in the world.[citation needed] Other systems include air-jet and open-end spinning, a technique where the staple fibre is blown by air into a rotor and attaches to the tail of formed yarn that is continually being drawn out of the chamber. Other methods of break spinning use needles and electrostatic forces.[3]

I had been in the spinning industry for over 40 years. Ring spinning is one of the most common spinning methods in the world.[citation needed] Other systems include air-jet and open-end spinning, a technique where the staple fibre is blown by air into a rotor and attaches to the tail of formed yarn that is continually being drawn out of the chamber. Friends when we decide about the spinning project which is a very important investment for honour as well as the country.
Need following points to take care of.

land should be very good

[ ] Land should be very good
[ ] Water should be in the nearby area may be from the river. Maral overseas and Svpittie group example for the same. Water is required for any industry which is having more manpower
[ ] Electricity should be of good quality and the state government should encourage Mills to start their natural resources like solar installation. Out of the 15 MW requirement for having around 6 megawatts, we can now give it to around 80% of the total load required.

[ ] Manpower availability will also help us to go in full flow. Alto although we have to make a good training system so that we can have a 50:50  ratio for local states versus other states.
[ ] Company should have the provision for labour hostel Al
[ ] Then we should decide about the products whether hundred per cent hotel Milan Idea NSE PC 100% polyester etc. The product mix is the game-changer for any industry.
[ ] After making the spin plan Singh average count and product finalization, we need to place the order for machines. These days machine’s delivery time is taking 6 to 12 months.

Machines Technology Selection
[ ] Machines technology selection Shubh you good state-of-art machines.
[ ] Today we have the best choice for LMW shut up, Rieter setup,
[ ] Rieter Coming section is world number one. Although LMW has made wonderful up-gradation in machines
[ ] Simplex LMW Rieter,Electojet & Saurer is having good competition
[ ] In the Ringframe section LMW and Rieter have the main competition. Need of the average compact combed weaving/ hosiery yarns

[ ] All ring frames should be equipped with a single spindle monitoring system from the premiere or any other brand.
[ ] Autoconer also Saurer & Savio have a neck to neck competition
[ ] In humidification system  Luwa is best but Batliboi & Draftair also good & techno, commercial choice
[ ] Civil work can be done with pre-owned structures of Kirby types. They can be manufactured in 6 to 9 months.
[ ] Viability of the project should be around 50000 spindles. We can have a complete LMW project compact and an average count of 32 for weaving and hosiery will be ideal. Tum Patiala news as on date 15 to 20 rupees higher.
[ ] These days bobbin transfer system(BTS) from Seiger is good along with all Overhead cleaners also.
[ ] Ring frame should be equipped with roving stop motion

Finishing Machines
[ ] Autoconer section we can have Savio or Saurer with linkconer.
[ ] Mill master system for clear IAS and machine POC system is a must
[ ] Photo plant should be equipped with CCTV camera installation
[ ] Fire insurance and machines transit & erection insurance is a must.
[ ] Fire fighting equipment in the department and outside should be in top condition.
[ ] Ram material & yarn godown with forklifts should be maintained.

[ ] We need to see the documents for GST provident fund factory act labour act rent agreement transportation & logistics
[ ] Good mil should be having 3 to 6-month cotton stock and a maximum of 15 days of yarn stock.
[ ] Commercial and marketing department should be good enough to maintain the stock of yarn, cotton & waste.
[ ] Project department will also see about the subsidies by the state government

[ ] Project team will also see the best utilization of air consumption and electricity consumption.
[ ] Staff should be recruited in such a way you have done a lot for the textile industry.
[ ] Any project team of experts can help you with consultancy.
[ ] Next blog will be written for the open-end plant, garment plant, and knitting plant with dyeing and weaving plants one by one.
[ ] Purpose of my blogs is to make textile industry owners technocrats & trading persons aware of some wonderful much-needed points.

Indian textiles and apparel industry contributed 2.3% to the GDP of India, 13% to industrial production, and 12% to export earnings.

Quality is a much more complicated term than it appears.

One defines as
Fitness for Intended Use .” This definition basically says that quality is ” Fulfilling or, exceeding customer expectations.

Now, the question is – Who are the customers?

External customers – These are the customers outside our organization who receive our goods and services.
But If we sell our products to a wholesaler-

  • Is the wholesaler our only customer?
  • Are retailers our customers?
  • or, Are actual users our consumers? Internal customers – Those are often forgotten or, taken for granted. In a manufacturing operation, the next department may be treated as customer of previous department.

Example –

Team Leaders should have to satisfy all Internal & External Customers.

Trade unions demand reopening of NTC mills

Members plan to meet Prime Minister and Textile Minister this month –
December 05, 2021, Trade unions of workers employed with National Textile Corporation (NTC) mills across the country have formed a “Save NTC” movement and plan to meet the Prime Minister and Textile Minister this month to demand to reopening of the NTC mills.
C. Padmanabhan, the coordinator of the “Save NTC”, said if their demands were not met, the union members would stage a protest in Delhi.

The unions have demanded the reopening of all the NTC mills in the country as production has stopped at the units in March last year when a lockdown was declared to control the spread of COVID-19.
The workers should get full wages for the lockdown period, provide ₹ 2,000 crores (which is outstanding for NTC from different departments) for reopening and operation of the mills and should not lease out the mills to private players for conversion work.

AITUC leader M. Arumugam said the union leaders from different parts of the country would go to Delhi on December 6 and meet the MPs of all the States that have NTC units. They would also try to meet the Prime Minister and the Union Textile Minister and submit their demands.
“We met the Textiles Secretary earlier and he said the issue will be resolved in three months. But there is no progress and the mills remain shut. The 23 NTC mills employ almost 20,000 permanent workers,” he said.

Select only correct cotton when you are paying Rs.80000/- to 100000/-per candy.

In most the Spinning Mills, Cotton purchasers are Non Technical people and they never worked as Textile Technicians in Spinning Mills.

So, this is the responsibility of the Unit Head to understand the requirements of Cotton Parameters before asking to purchase cotton.

We can not purchase cotton only on the basis of 2.5% Span Length, say UHML say Length of cotton by Non-Tech.

FQI is based on ML(Mean Length)so this can not be ignored.

MIC is important for counts to be spun.

SFI is important for processing fibre.

Rd and b+ are more important for selling the product in the market.

Gms. per tex is more important for controlling yarn breakages.

Obviously, Effective Length plays a major role in deciding the gauge set in the drafting zone and Effective Length depends on a 2.5% Span Length.

Thus Unit Head should decide all Cotton Parameters and their margins because this is hardly possible to see all required parameters in every bale of cotton when going for “Bale Management”.
